The New York Times lead headline online early Friday morning says "House Panel Recommends Censure for Rangel." The paper says the 9 to 1 vote to censure Rep. Charles B. Rangel ends the committee’s two-year investigation into his ethical misconduct, and must now be approved by the full House.

It says the New York attorney general’s suit against Steven L. Rattner in a kickback case came as Mr. Rattner settled charges with the S.E.C.

The paper says Target the dog survived a suicide bombing, but after she escaped from her adoptive family in Arizona, a shelter mistakenly administered a lethal injection.

The Times says the government has asked for patience as travelers complain about feeling humiliated over the more aggressive measures.

It says the computer worm suspected of being aimed at Iran’s nuclear program was calibrated to send nuclear centrifuges wildly out of control, experts found.

The paper says President Obama’s decision to confront Senate Republicans over arms control could be a test of his mettle heading into the final two years of his term.

And the most popular story is an op-ed from Nicholas D. Kristof which revisits a column suggesting that if you want to see rapacious income inequality, you no longer need to visit a banana republic. You can just look around.
