The New York Times lead headline online early Thursday morning says "Tentative Deal to End Iraq Impasse Keeps Maliki in Power." The paper says Iraq’s leaders reached a tentative agreement to end an eight-month political impasse and return Nuri Kamal al-Maliki to power.

It says psychiatry has been revived in China, but mental health remains a medical backwater, desperately short of financing, practitioners and esteem.

The paper says women on the mastheads of the fashion magazines have become a new breed of Web-based reality stars.

The Times says doctors and drug makers are debating the use of osteoporosis drugs, as recent lawsuits suggest risk in their long-term use.

It says the secrecy around Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s selection of Cathleen P. Black to run the city’s schools highlighted his faith in business leaders and dislike of public debate.

And the most popular story is an op-ed from Maureen Dowd which says "My Mom used to say, “When you’re blue, wear red.” America took that advice on Election Day, and you can color Kevin happy."
