USA Today Top Online Stories: Tue 11/09/10

The USA Today lead headline online early Tuesday morning says "Coral reefs under siege from acidic oceans." The paper says ocean acidification, a potentially disastrous consequence of global warming, is threatening the early life cycle of coral reefs near Florida and throughout the Caribbean, according to a new study published Monday.

It says Democratic voters want to sit down and work things out. Republicans are ready to rumble. It says the first USA TODAY/Gallup Poll since last week's tumultuous midterm elections finds Americans divided not only about who should have more influence in the nation's direction over the next year — 49% choose congressional Republicans, 41% President Obama — but also about how they should try to govern.

The paper says is bigger better? It says large women are gaining acceptance.

It says the U.S.-born Islamic cleric Anwar al-Awlaki made what looks to be his most threatening message yet: calling on Muslims to kill Americans at will, because it is "either us or them."

And the most popular story on USA Today says Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones vowed changes on Sunday night after his team fell to 1-7 following a 45-7 loss in Green Bay.
