European shares closed mostly down on Monday, with limited trading due to a public holiday in Britain.
The German DAX fell 38.76 points or 0.65 percent to 5912.41.
The French CAC 40 eased 20.43 points or 0.58 percent to 3487.01.
Markets in London were closed due to a bank holiday.
